VISSIM is the ultimate software for microscopic simulation of individual and public transport. With its unique high level of detail, VISSIM accurately simulates both urban traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians, and highway traffic, including large multilevel intersections. VISSIM can simulate not only automobile transport, but also interaction with pedestrians and cyclists. The newly developed module VISSIM Pedestrians completes the whole system, where you can track interaction of pedestrians and vehicles, or completely focus on pedestrian flows. Extensive analytical tools make VISSIM an effective instrument for transport planning and optimisation of transport and transport systems, as well as the large amount of interface for various traffic management systems. VISSIM connects traffic engineering experience with the possibility of 3D animation presentations, which may be used not only by transport professionals. VISSIM is gradually more frequently used to represent transport efficiency of proposed solutions, for example to authority representatives. VISSIM – the intelligent technology for realistic simulation.
VISSIM is based on decades of intensive research at various academic institutions. Core algorithms are well documented. Since its introduction on the market in 1992, VISSIM established the standard for software simulation; intensive research and a large worldwide community of users guarantee that VISSIM is the top software of its kind. In addition, PTV Vision was the first of its kind, which integrated microscopic simulation with strategic transport planning/modeling of transport demand. The opened user interface provides compatibility with external software. The topology line-connector allows the highest versatility combined with movements of vehicles in detailed resolution 1/10s. VISSIM is used to analyse networks of all sizes, from individual intersections to large metropolitan areas. In these transport networks, VISSIM is able to model all functional categories of roads from highways to special-purpose roads. The scope of application of VISSIM also includes public transport or routes for cyclists and pedestrians. VISSIM can simulate various common but unique geometric and operational conditions occurring in the transport network. The ability of VISSUM to define an unlimited number of vehicle types allows users to utilise the full range of multimodal operations. Types of vehicles include passenger cars, freight vehicles, buses, cyclists, wheelchairs, pedestrians, aircrafts, etc. VISSIM also offers the unique ability of allocating vehicles to the network by using one or a combination of three methods. The basic method assumes that transport is distributed stochastically on fixed routes from user pre-defined starting point to the end point. Definition of turning maneuvers enables distribution of traffic on the intersection or on several intersections. Dynamic routes allow dynamic allocation of traffic on routes specified by the user. Method of dynamic load allows VISSIM to allocate traffic on the transport network by using matrixes source/destination (depending on time and category of vehicles) and stochastic traffic load techniques.
