The project was focused on identification of vulnerabilities of the road infrastructure, in particular in sensitive parts of the system, such as bridges, tunnels, and other artificial structures. The aim was to establish a single instrument for systematic evaluation of various elements of the road infrastructure in terms of possible damage, such as terrorist attack, damage by disaster, technical breakdown or traffic accident. For evaluation and simulation of impacts of decommissioning or damage of part of the road infrastructure, the transport model of the Czech Republic was utilised together with the geographical information system. The processor assessed resistance of individual infrastructure elements against damage, possibilities for their replacement, impacts of disturbances on the transport system and functions of state administration, local governments, and economy of the territory, influence on ensuring functions of the army and the police, existence of replacement logistic solutions for accessibility of the territory, risks of threatening health and lives of people and the environment. The output of the project was the methodical procedure for identification and assessment of critical elements of the road infrastructure in the Czech Republic and their risks.
