TP 131

Principles for modifications of roads, including through roads in municipalities

Technical conditions "Principles for modifications of roads, including through roads in municipalities" (TP 131) have been approved by the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic, Department of Road Infrastructure, on 3.4.2000 under the reference no. 18932/00-120 dated, with effect from 1.5.2000.

TP 131 is valid for classification, collection and evaluation of deficits reducing usability value of the road infrastructure, and for designing maintenance, repair, reconstruction, elimination of such deficits and proposing traffic organisation on the road infrastructure.

The aim of TP 131 is not to create a comprehensive national database of classified defects, but to contribute to rapid detection and efficient removal of specific deficits, even those neglected in the long term.
 

TP 131 is primarily used for:

• designing modifications to I and II class roads, which result from the programme of planned road repairs or from the scope of deficits, which are not expected to change their importance, to undergo major renovation or to be relocated in the term of 15 to 20 years. The main emphasis is laid on determining, evaluation and removal of spot or sectorial defects, if there is no continuous rebuilding planned for the location, which could delay realisation of the process of enhancing usability value of a road due to its investment demands.
• continuous care and systematic detection of road deficits, assessment of their importance, demands for removal and operational or planned elimination in order to improve the usability value of a road.  

TP 131 is obligatory for I class roads, for other roads (in particular for II class roads and local roads) it is recommended.

TP 131 is primarily intended for:

• road administrative authorities
• authorities responsible for safety and fluency of road traffic
• managers and investors
• designers
• transport engineers
• persons delegated to carry out identification and assessment of road deficits, according to TP 131
