The research project was focused on analysis of the existing road network in the Czech Republic in terms of traffic load. Although the network was specifically geodetically defined, its capacity, as a mathematical-physical characteristic on a countable set of profiles and intersections, is being confronted with daily activities of inhabitants of the Czech Republic and visitors. Traffic intensities, as a mathematical-statistical characteristic of effects of activities of countable sets of drivers, are the counterpart to capacities. They are constantly growing (statistically significantly for sets of vehicles). The phenomenon of mutual confrontation of the two characteristics (of congestion) is becoming more frequent. In urban areas, complete suspension of traffic occurs in many places. Decision-making on route choice of drivers is influenced by presence of critical spots of the road network. Therefore, it was necessary to supplement decision-making processes of road network administrators towards effective regulatory measures with influence of the network on assessed road section. Results of the project must be differentiated for internal and external urban areas. The output of the project become technical conditions for identification of capacity of the road infrastructure and proposals to eliminate congestion TP 123 Identifying Capacity of the Road Infrastructure and Proposals to Eliminate Congestion
